PPTC will host a repeat performance and partner with Eastern Tandem Rally to show off wonderful Eastern Shore cycling. Meet cyclists from throughout the East Coast. Four days of riding: no hills, sparse traffic, wide shoulders.

Roads near the water afford splendid scenery among world class environmental ecosystems.

Enjoy the famous ferry ride to Historic Oxford, MD for lunch and exploratory cycling.

Thursday and Friday dinners are unhosted, providing a great opportunity to get to know others as you explore the many local offerings with new found friends. We'll provide lists and reviews to help with your selections.

Reserve rooms at Best Western now. Call the Motel (410-745-3333) and say you are registering for the PPTC/ETR event. This is a joint event with Potomac Pedalers Touring Club and Eastern Tandem Rally. Minimum stay is Friday and Saturday night. Option to extend to four nights at guaranteed rates. Rates at Best Western are lower on Wednesday & Thursday.

Tandem Wannabees

If you would like to rent a tandem, you can contact Mt Airy Bicycles (Maryland) at 301-831-5151. info@bike123.com As the official rally mechanic, they are offering special rental fees. Reservations accepted starting March 15. Sizing and introduction to tandem instruction available at no cost with advance notice. Event delivery and pickup available.

Because of the low traffic and flat terrain, the area is a haven for trikes and recumbents. There will be a limited number of those available for rent as well.

St Michaels:

  • HEADQUARTERS: Best Western Motor Inn, 82 rooms. 1228 S Talbot St., St Michaels, MD 21663. (410) 745-3333. Cost per night per room is $93 for Wed and Thursday and $120 for Friday and Saturday, plus 10% tax.
  • The Old Brick Inn: (a half-mile away from Best Western) 401 S Talbot St., St Michaels, MD 21663. (410) 745-3323 www.oldbrickinn.com Some rooms under $200/night. The Brick Inn has 20 rooms, at varying prices, and may offer a reduced rate. Rooms may include a Jacuzzi or hot tub.

Easton: 12 miles away

You can also camp at Martinak or Tuckahoe State Parks (both are about 25 mi away). Reservations can be made on line -- good family time. Several riders stayed there at the last rally.

Program Overview April 29 to May 2, 2010

  • Thursday: Selection of rides for all levels in Talbot County
  • Friday: Hooper Island and lunch at Old Salty. Also visit nationally renowned Blackwater Wildlife Refuge.
  • Saturday: Selection of rides for all levels in Talbot County. Lunch and dinner in St Michaels. Saturday night entertainment
  • Sunday: Mass start. 26 and 36 mile ride to Tilghman Island. Few cars, no turns, no traffic lights, very wide shoulders. Out-and- back.

  2. A signed and completed registration form.
  3. A signed and completed Release & Waiver Form for each person. Form located in either the Pedal Patter or, go to web site www.bikepptc.org for a copy.
  4. Stamped and self-addressed long envelope to receive confirmation or an e-mail address.
